chazak chazak- finishing Marshaln 15 years

i just finished reading all of Marshaln's blog. yes, from start to finish. i think it was definitely worth it. his blog is pointed to frequently as a reference and for good reason. he was one of, if not the first, serious blogger to write about puer in english and to gear it towards a western audience. although in the last few years he has written less because of having 2 kids and because, as he says, there is only so much he can say on this matter, having someone write consistently about tea over 15 years not only provides insight but also lessons one can only learn over time.

this is part of the reason i am writing this blog. sure, no one save a couple people i know are reading this, but i like to fantasize that one day, some people will read this in the future and may even choose to read it chronologically form beginning to end. i do have that idea in mind when i am writing. i want this blog to be an enjoyable read and i also want it to be informative. i want it to be a resource for people, especially people who are new to puer and tea. i want this blog to also serve as a resource for people who want to drink good tea on a budget. you dont need any fancy set ups and there is good tea out there that is affordable (you just have to sift through a lot of meh tea which is the expensive part. but thats what bloggers and the internet tea community are here for? maybe?).

now that i have finished Marshaln's blog, am i going to read/study another one you may ask. there are a lot of good ones out there. there is oolongowl and hobbes, but i dont really care about tea reviews. there is cwyn's but i feel we share a similar niche in being sarcastic-snarky-handicapped by medical problems-tea-loving-jews (i think cwyn is jewish. if not, sorry for the compliment), plus, she drinks way fancier and more expensive teas than i do. i really enjoy matt's blog and it has a whole list of other great tea blogs on the sidebar to explore. i like the teas matt chooses to write about, i like his focus on qi, and i appreciate his even headed views on the tea industry. i do check teadb frequently and think James has a lot of good articles that are well researched and provide a lot of good information for westerners on home puer storage. plus, he cares a lot about affordable tea.

but as of right now, no, i do not plan on sitting down to read any tea blogs from start to finish. why? because i dont like reading on screens and there is too much to read. more importantly, as Marshaln says in his blog, and many agree, you can read all the information you like about tea but it will only get you so far. the best way to truly learn is to drink lots of tea and that is what i am going to do. l'chaim!

xoxo,
